The Illusionist (2006)

A young princess crosses paths with a young lad and becomes mesmerized by him and his tricks. Sharing only minutes with each other, the princess's guard quickly find the runaway teens. The young lad is warned by the guard to stay away from the princess or risk arrest and the arrest of his family. After the princess is wisked away, the young lad leaves the countryside to explore magic and illusions. Some 15 years later, he returns and while performing on stage has a chance encounter with the princess, his true love. They begin a passionate love affair even though the princess is betrothed to another.

Not long after, the princess's body is found floating in a nearby river and a suspect confesses to the crime even though the evidence points to her jealous financee. The Illusionist's stage acts begin to include images of ghostly figures who reveal more facts surrounding the case.

This movie starts off really slow and doesn't pick up until half-way through, but once it does the many twists and turns keep you guessing on who really murdered the princess.
