National Treasure 2 (2007)
Nicholas Cage reprises his role as treasure hunter Benjamin Franklin Gates who, in an attempt to clear his family name, needs to find another national treasure. Along again for the ride are his co-horts from the last adventure including his father, but this time his mother is introduced and taken along for the ride. The chase is on to find a lost city of gold with bad guys being ever present.
Rather disappointing in this sequel was the trail of clues. This time around there are fewer clues and more time seems to be spent on Indiana Jones type special effects. Dammit, I liked the highly plausable clues of the first movie. Since there is obviously going to be a third installment of this movie, I hope that the producers will realize that the secret formula for the original was the chase for the clues and not in the cobweb laden tunnels to the treasure.
Educate us as to historical facts, ideas, artifacts and legends and leave the swashbuckling to the pirates. Speaking for myself, I want more lemon juice as a reactive agent, clue finding, CSI type investigations which has the characters running off to find the next clue -- but that's just me.
All in all, this sequel was an entertaining movie and suitable for the whole family.
