I Am Legend (2007)
I Am Legend is an updated remake of The Last Man on Earth (1967). If you're old enough to recall The Omega Man starring Charlton Heston, you might see some similarities, That's because The Omega Man was also loosely based upon The Last Man on Earth.
When scientists discover a cure for cancer, the population undergoes innoculations. Sadly, the cancer cure is later discovered to have a side effect -- you become a vampiristic, man eating, zombie. At least the pharmaceutical companies can breathe easier, no one is left to sue them. Robert Neville, played by Will Smith is the last "normal" man alive and is left to live among the walking dead, who only come out at night.
This movie does move the events to present day where they seem as realistic as can be, and the movie does carry its own for a while, but about three-quarters of the way through, it does start to get rather predictable. Still, it's an enjoyable movie.
