Flyboys (2006)

Hands down a great movie. This is what people go to the movies for.

A group of American volunteer bi-plane pilots head to France to help fight the Germans before America's entry into World War I. They are met with less a than spectacular reception but soon prove their prowess as fighter pilots in the French Lafayette Escadrille.

This movie shows the realism of being a bi-plane pilot in WWI when parachutes weren't yet used. If your plane caught fire, as a pilot you had few choices -- jump out and pray to hit something soft on the ground, shoot yourself with the military issue pistol or try to land your plane quickly. None of which were great choices.

If you're looking to see an action packed movie this is a good one. From beginning to end, you are brought into the action that never dulls.
