August Rush (2007)

This is a story of a young boy in the state's foster care system. Having already been placed with several families, the young boy is labeled a problem child. Through music, he feels he can talk to his parents which causes the other foster children to tease him. He finally figures if his real parents aren't coming for him then he's going in search of them. So he runs away from the foster care facility and hits the road. He comes across a homeless youth playing the guitar on the street and becomes mesmerized by the sound being made with simple strings and wood. He is taken in by a man who uses homeless children to play music in the parks for change. They all live together in an abandoned building. Early one morning the boy awakes and finds a guitar and immediately begins making beautiful music having never before played guitar. Such is the story of August Rush, a musical prodigy.

While this movie begins rather slow, it does pick up speed and ends with a thundering crescendo the likes of which will bring tears to your eyes.
