Anatomy of a Murder (1959)

James Stewart makes a fine performance as a former district attorney, turned defense attorney, who is hired to defend an Army lieutenant accused in the shooting death of a barkeeper.

This Courtroom drama, made in 1959, and was well before its time. It may even be so today. Words which are common in today's language, such as the word "panties," were used throughout this movie, which shows its daring and genius (remember this was 1959 when such things weren't spoken of in public). The drama plays out while the judge tries to control the will and the egos of both the prosecutor and the defense attorney. It is one of the most realistic courtroom dramas in existence today.

What makes this movie stand out among like courtroom dramas, is that you have the entire testimony of each and every witness in the trial, which grips you and keeps you entertained.

This movie has all the key elements that moviegoers expect to see in a movie. Fine acting, drama, a good murder-mystery, good guy versus bad guy, and of course beautiful women. It's a shame that Hollywood can't produce movies like this anymore.
